Coming back to engineering with an operator’s brain

The useful part of a detour is what it changes when you return.

I spent years thinking about software from the inside: architecture, devices, APIs and failure states. Running businesses changed the direction of the questions.

Now I care just as much about what happens before the feature is built and after the release reaches a customer: why the problem matters, what behaviour changes, how support feels, what the data says, and whether the economics make sense.

I do not see those years as time away from technology anymore. They changed what I want technology to do.
